Our Core Beliefs

At Emmanuel United Church of MD, our beliefs are rooted in the foundational truths of the Christian faith. We embrace these core principles as we strive to live out our mission and vision in the DMV Area.

1. The Authority of Scripture:

We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the Bible as God's written Word. It serves as our guide for faith, practice, and life.

2. The Trinity:

We affirm the belief in one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, yet distinct in role.

3. Salvation through Christ:

We believe in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Salvation is a gift of God's grace, and it is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

4. The Transformative Power of the Holy Spirit:

We acknowledge the Holy Spirit as God's presence within us, empowering believers for Christian living, spiritual growth, and service.

5. The Church as the Body of Christ:

The Church is not merely a building but a community of believers. We see ourselves as part of the universal Church and strive to express God's love through worship, fellowship, and service.

6. Compassionate Service and Evangelism:

Our mission is to share the hope of the kingdom of God through both compassionate service and evangelism. We actively engage in outreach and seek to make a positive impact in our local and global communities.

7. The Second Coming of Christ:

We anticipate the return of Jesus Christ. Our hope is anchored in the promise of His coming, and we live in readiness and anticipation of that glorious day.

These core beliefs shape our identity, guide our actions, and inspire us to live out the Gospel in a way that reflects the love and grace of our Lord.
